Made for your hand

Your knife.
From raw steel.

Choose the profile, steel, handle, and carry. Then follow along as one maker turns your ideas into a working tool.

One maker. No shortcuts.

Born in a
Buffalo garage.

No assembly line. No outsourced steps. Just one maker, raw steel, and the belief that a knife should carry the marks of the hands that made it.

Every Vogl knife begins as bar stock and leaves the same small workshop ready to work. The profile is cut, the bevels are ground, the steel is heat-treated, and the handle is shaped by hand—one blade at a time.

The process

Steel to field.

Old-school handwork, modern heat treatment, and relentless attention to the details that matter.

  1. 01

    Design & profile

Your intended use becomes a balanced, purposeful blade profile.

  2. 02

    Grind & harden

Bevels are ground by hand, then the steel is heat-treated for strength.

  3. 03

    Fit & finish

Handle scales are fitted, shaped, and finished for a locked-in grip.

  4. 04

    Sharpen & ship

The final edge is set, tested, and packed for a lifetime of use.

Field care

Use it hard.
Keep it sharp.

A handmade carbon-steel knife asks for very little: keep it clean, dry it well, and give it a touch of oil before storage.

01 Clean after use +

Hand wash with mild soap and warm water. Never leave the knife soaking or put it in a dishwasher.

02 Dry completely +

Wipe the blade and handle fully dry before returning the knife to its sheath.

03 Protect the steel +

Apply a thin coat of food-safe mineral oil when the knife will be stored for a while.

04 Maintain the edge +

Strop regularly and sharpen only when needed to preserve the blade geometry.
